252 Young People ‘Raise the Standard’ at Youth Convergence 2026
CABANATUAN CITY, PHILIPPINES - A total of 252 young people representing 12 churches within the Mega Manila Annual Conference gathered at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology Mini Convention Center on August 21, 2026, for Youth Convergence 2026.
Carrying the theme “Raise the Standard,” the gathering challenged young people to go beyond what is ordinary and raise the standard in their faith, character, and walk with Christ. Through biblical messages, testimonies, worship, prayer, breakout sessions, and fellowship, participants were encouraged to trust God, allow Him to transform their lives, and follow His timing.
Young people gather in prayer at the altar during Youth Convergence 2026, responding to the call to “raise the standard” in their faith and deepen their walk with Christ.
Youth Convergence began three years ago through the leadership of Pastor Jose Fernando, pastor of Good News of Life Church and now presiding elder of Metro Manila District. It eventually became an annual event held every August 21st, a non-working holiday. This year marked another milestone as Youth Convergence was brought to Nueva Ecija, effectively extending its reach beyond Metro Manila. Organizers initially wondered how many would be able to attend amid the rainy weather and flooded roads. By the day of the event, however, the gathering had swelled to five times the number of pre-registered attendees.
Earlier in the gathering, Pastor Gilbert Pascua of New Horizons GMC challenged the youth to consider the standard they bring into their relationship with God. Drawing from Daniel’s example in Babylon, he encouraged them to raise their standard of seeking and surrender, reminding them that God deserves their best, not their leftovers.
Timing, Transformation, and Trust
At the heart of this year’s Youth Convergence were three messages that focused on Timing, Transformation, and Trust, each challenging participants to view their lives, decisions, and future through their relationship with God.
Pastor Joanne Valenzuela of Cansinala Christian Community delivered the message on “Timing” via recorded video, reflecting on the biblical concept of hevel - a Hebrew word meaning “vapor” or “puff of air.” Drawing from Ecclesiastes, she described the fleeting and often uncontrollable nature of life and pointed the youth toward the God who remains sovereign over it. Referencing Ecclesiastes 3, she reminded participants that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity. She also admonished: “When God calls you to something, He is not always calling you to succeed; He’s calling you to obey. The success of the calling is up to Him, and the obedience is up to you.”
Pastor Joanne’s message was complemented by the testimonies of Joe Marie Dizon and Emmanuel Ardee Embile, both from TGHub, who shared from their own experiences and brought the lesson on God’s timing closer to the realities young people face.
For “Transformation,” Pastor Charles Puno delivered “Raised to Raise,” challenging participants to examine what shapes the way they think and live. He emphasized three foundations of a transformed life: be renewed by God’s Word, be refined by Godly people, and be ruled by God’s Spirit. His message reminded the youth that transformation goes beyond outward change. He further explained that as God changes a person from within, that transformed life with the help of the Holy Spirit can also become an influence that leads others closer to Christ.
One participant who was initially unsure about attending was so moved by Pastor Charles’ talk. “In that moment, I felt that God understood everything my heart couldn’t say,” she wrote. She also testified that she found comfort in God’s presence as she stepped forward to be prayed for and expressed the hope that other young people would also experience the same assurance of being “loved, seen, and never alone.”
Finally, the third theme, “Trust,” turned participants’ attention toward what lies ahead. Pastor David Sablan, Jr., in his message “Trust for What’s Ahead,” encouraged the youth to place their confidence in God as they face the future, choosing to follow Him even when they cannot yet see every step ahead. He concluded his talk with a powerful altar call, challenging the participants to “raise the standard” in their faith and deepen their walk with Christ.
Fellowship and Engaging Activities
Beyond the main messages, the convergence gave participants opportunities to interact and build relationships with young people from other churches in the conference.
Deaconess Mary Grace F. Esposo lead participants in a dance.
During breakout time, participants joined interest groups focused on Leadership, Discipleship, Calling, Missions, and Evangelism, allowing them to engage in smaller conversations around different areas of Christian life and ministry.
One of the livelier moments of the day came when Deaconess Mary Grace F. Esposo led the participants in a dance to “Great Things” by Phil Wickham. The youth readily joined in, filling the convention center with energy and providing a fun and engaging break between the day’s sessions.
More than a one-day event, Youth Convergence 2026 reflected the continuing investment of the Mega Manila Conference in its young people and placed a challenge before them that extends beyond the gathering itself.
From learning to recognize God’s timing, allowing Him to bring transformation, and choosing to trust Him with what lies ahead, the convergence pointed participants toward a faith that continues in their homes, schools, communities, and local churches.
